Southampton Green Party votes doubled in five wards (Bargate, Coxford, Freemantle, Harefield and Millbrook) with candidates placing third in six wards across the city.

After polling with 18% of the Portswood vote, councillor candidate Katherine Barbour looks ahead to the future with positivity and gratitude. She said, "Thank you to all the people who put their trust in us. I will redouble my efforts to get elected in 2020."

The local Labour Party still hold control over Southampton City Council, with Conservatives and an independent councillor completing the seats. Nevertheless, Southampton Green Party are committed to holding the council to account, making sure they take appropriate action to address the climate emergency in our city.

Thank you to all Southampton residents who have shown their support by casting their vote for the Green Party. We are grateful for the time and effort put in by our local candidates and even though we haven't secured a council seat this year, we are more determined than ever to raise our profile and make a difference in our area.

We now turn our focus to European Elections, teaming up with Green Parties across the South East of England to promote Green MEPs to represent our area.
