Southampton Greens are supporting a campaign to stop sewage

11 November 2022

Say ‘enough is enough’… Public call on Southern Water to clean up their act and stop dumping sewage in the River Itchen.

At a meeting to be held on Saturday 12th November between 2– 4 pm at Riverside park, Woodmill Lane, Southampton.  (Gather at RiversidePark, Woodmill end, opposite Portswood Sewage Works by the bench, where there is water access.)  Protesters and speakers will gather to call on  Southern Water to stop their pollution of the Itchen River.   A place where people used to  swim, paddle board and  enjoy water sports until the growing level of pollution became a real worry to many people.

The Group Southampton National Park City are organising the meeting and are asking members of the public to come along and support them on the day.  More details about the protest can be found on their facebook page – under events

Saturday 12th November – 2pm to 4pm – Kicking Up a Stink RiversidePark.

This protest comes ahead of an Enquiry meeting to be held at Southampton City Council on 17th November, 2022 at 5.30 pm to discuss the future of the River Itchen and the opinions of the people that live, work and enjoy the river.  Southern Water have been invited to this Enquiry.

Please come along on the 12th and lend your support to the voice that says river pollution is unacceptable – especially after all the news coverage from all over the country saying exactly the same story of environmental destruction and damage to the eco systems and wildlife, birds and fish.
